PROGRAM COORDINATOR
JOB SUMMARY: The Program Coordinator position at the Santa Barbara Police Activities League (PAL) involves developing and implementing teen center programs, managing day-to-day operations, and building strategic relationships with community and city agencies. The Program Coordinator will supervise the teen center staff and report to the Executive Director.
This is a full-time position.
SALARY: RANGES $22-$25HR
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Program Coordinator:
- Develop and implement teen center programs, goals, and objectives, ensuring the cultivation of new and current program partners.
- Support and maintain programs that engage teens socially, culturally, and intellectually in a way that reflects the diversity and mission of PAL.
- Foster and maintain a high level of communication and positive relationships with community partners, city officials, parents, teens, and office staff.
- Provide program orientation, encourage involvement, enroll participants, and maintain attendance sheets.
- Manage the day-to-day operations of administration, orientation, and supervision of the Teen Center daily activities.
- Coordinate the outcome measurement process and other evaluation programs including surveys of participants, parents, and staff.
- Coordinate payment of teen center instructors.
Operation, Administration, and Supervision of Teen Center Activities:
- Hire and supervise Teen Center staff and Interns.
- Develop, create, and distribute educational information related to the teen center.
- Oversee communication, outreach, and marketing for the program, including website maintenance.
- Attend relevant community meetings and actively participate in councils, roundtables, and committees.
- Organize staff meetings to provide information and updates on the teen center programs.
- Oversee facility management, including attendance, security, safety, and transportation.
- Manage record keeping and reporting as it relates to the teen center and submit to the Executive Director and Board of Directors.
- Take responsibility for vehicle maintenance, registration, and mileage log ensuring compliance with certifications.
- Coordinate maintenance service contracts and required inspections for fire safety systems.
- Collaborate with Police Officers to provide effective mentoring opportunities for teens.
- Working with the Executive Director, control expenditures and make recommendations for expenditures, as they relate to the teen programs.
- Assist the Executive Director in implementing and complementing donor cultivation and fundraising strategies.
- Work with the Executive Director to develop effective marketing, communication, website, social media, and press strategies for the Teen Center.
- Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience working with a non-profit organization, preferably a youth development organization.
- Experience working directly with diverse youth aged 14-18, preferably in social change projects or with youth from at-risk environments.
- Strong belief in youth as assets and resources in their communities.
- Ability to define outcomes and work towards positive outcomes.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent follow-through skills with a strong attention to detail and organizational abilities.
- Availability to work some evenings and weekends as needed.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, multi-faceted environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Products.
- Experience with research and program evaluation.
- Valid California Driver’s License.
- Possession of, or willingness to obtain training for a Class C Passenger Endorsement driving classification.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish is preferred but not required.
